How to stencil with Gel MediumPlace your stencil on the desired surface and stick down using masking tape. Using a palette knife, scoop a bit of the gel medium on the back of the palette knife. Smooth the gel over the stencil going in one direction. Once the entire surface of the stencil is covered, carefully remove the masking tape. Lift the corner of the stencil and gently pull up. TIPS: Mix some mica/metallic powder into the gel for a stunning finish Gellatos may be mixed into the gel medium using a palette knife for a coloured gel Do not apply the gel too thick as this may result in a rough/pointy effect Do not wait for the gel medium to dry before removing the stencil Clean the stencil using warm soapy water immediately after use

How to stencil with paintPlace your stencil on the desired surface and stick down using masking tape. Using a round or stencil brush, touch the surface of the paint so only a small amount is on the brush. In a circular motion dry the brush on a piece of cloth. This will help the paint to distribute between the bristles. Hold your brush upright and gently dab onto the surface. Repeat this process until the whole area is covered. TIPS: Always ensure you are using a dry brush When stencilling on a decoupaged surface, ensure it is completely dry and do not stick down using the masking tape. To create a shadow stencil effect, use a darker colour first, move your stencil 1mm left and 1mm down and repeat with a lighter contrasting colour
